Tylosin phosphate is the phosphate salt form of tylosin, a macrolide antibiotic specifically for animal use. Tylosin was first isolated from the culture broth of Streptomyces fradiae (an actinomycete genus) in the United States in 1959. In vivo, tylosin exists in the form of tylosinol, where it exerts bacteriostatic and bactericidal effects by binding to the ribosomes of pathogenic microorganisms, inhibiting the activity of translocase, blocking mRNA translocation, and hindering peptide chain elongation. This mechanism disrupts protein synthesis in sensitive microorganisms.
