Tylosin tartarate is the tartrate salt of tilosin, an antibiotic specifically used for livestock and poultry. Tylosin is a weakly alkaline compound extracted from streptomyces fermentation broth. Clinically, Tylosin is commonly formulated as tartrate and phosphate salts. It appears as a white or slightly yellow powder, sparingly soluble in water. When combined with acids, it forms water-soluble salts, which remain stable in weakly alkaline and weakly acidic solutions.
